A warm grey perimeter kept quiet so the island could carry the room, with a marble top running over the end and brass lantern pendants above it.
This started as a request to get the coffee machine off the main counter. It became a bay of its own, set between two full height cabinets so it reads as part of the kitchen rather than an appliance parked on a worktop.
The beverage fridge is built into the base run with drawers either side, and the counter above is left deliberately clear so there is room to actually make something.
Floating walnut shelves and a chevron tile give the bay its own character without breaking from the white cabinetry around it. The practical result is that the morning rush now happens here instead of in front of whoever is trying to cook.
