Deep green island with a marble waterfall top
A warm grey perimeter kept quiet so the island could carry the room, with a marble top running over the end and brass lantern pendants above it.
The brief here was storage without bulk. The island runs three banks of deep drawers down one side with a pair of full height doors on the other, so the everyday pans and the once-a-year dishes both have somewhere to live.
Black was the right call against the original oak floor. A mid tone would have competed with the grain; black reads as a solid object and lets the floor stay the warmest thing in the room.
The face frame is what makes this work at this scale. Loaded deep drawers put real weight on a box, and a framed cabinet carries it without the run drifting out of alignment over time.
